Diabetes Specialist
Houston, TX
Managing diabetes requires more than just checking your A1C. Our board-certified endocrinologists in Houston provide comprehensive, technology-forward diabetes care โ from newly diagnosed to the most complex cases โ with the most advanced treatments and devices available.
Why Choose an Endocrinologist?
Comprehensive Diabetes Care for Every Patient
Endocrinologists are the leading specialists for diabetes โ particularly for complex or difficult-to-control cases. Our physicians have trained at Baylor College of Medicine and published research in diabetes management. We treat all forms of diabetes with the latest evidence-based protocols.
Autoimmune Insulin Deficiency
We specialize in advanced Type 1 management including insulin pump therapy (CSII), closed-loop automated insulin delivery (AID) systems, and continuous glucose monitoring. Dr. Chadha has a special interest in Type 1 diabetes technology.
Metabolic Insulin Resistance
From first diagnosis to advanced cases, we offer the full spectrum of Type 2 care โ including GLP-1 receptor agonists, SGLT-2 inhibitors, DPP-4 inhibitors, and insulin regimens tailored to your lifestyle and metabolic goals.
Reverse It Before It Progresses
Prediabetes is largely reversible with the right interventions. We identify prediabetes early, assess your individual risk, and implement targeted lifestyle and medication strategies to prevent progression to Type 2 diabetes.
Cutting-Edge Diabetes Technology in Houston
We are among Houston's most technology-forward endocrine practices, helping patients access and optimize the latest diabetes devices and digital health tools.
๐ก Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM)
We prescribe and interpret CGM data from Dexcom, FreeStyle Libre, and Medtronic systems. CGM allows us to see your full glucose picture โ not just A1C snapshots โ and make smarter treatment decisions.
โ๏ธ Insulin Pump Therapy (CSII)
For Type 1 and select Type 2 patients, insulin pumps offer tighter control with fewer injections. We help you select, initiate, and optimize pump therapy from leading brands.
๐ Automated Insulin Delivery (AID)
Closed-loop "artificial pancreas" systems (Control-IQ, Omnipod 5, MiniMed 780G) automatically adjust insulin based on CGM readings. We are experienced in initiating and fine-tuning these advanced systems.
๐ Digital Data Review
We use ambulatory glucose profile (AGP) reporting and time-in-range analysis to optimize your diabetes management between visits โ not just at appointments.
What to Expect as Our Patient
Thorough Initial Evaluation
Your first visit includes a comprehensive review of your diabetes history, current medications, lab trends, complications screening, and lifestyle factors. We order a targeted lab panel including HbA1c, fasting glucose, lipids, kidney function, and urine microalbumin.
Individualized Treatment Plan
There is no one-size-fits-all diabetes treatment. We select medications based on your cardiovascular risk, kidney function, weight goals, and lifestyle โ choosing agents that work best for your specific situation, not just the cheapest or most familiar options.
Technology Optimization
We assess whether CGM, insulin pump, or automated insulin delivery could improve your control and quality of life. We help you get started, interpret your device data, and make adjustments based on real-world glucose patterns.
Complication Prevention & Monitoring
We systematically screen for and manage diabetes complications โ diabetic neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy, and cardiovascular risk โ to protect your long-term health.

Diabetes Specialist FAQ
Do I need a referral to see a diabetes specialist?
Most PPO insurance plans do not require a referral to see an endocrinologist. HMO plans typically do require a referral from your primary care provider. We recommend calling our office at 832-968-7003 โ we can verify your insurance and let you know before your visit.
When should I see an endocrinologist instead of my primary care doctor for diabetes?
Consider seeing an endocrinologist if your A1C is not at goal despite treatment, if you have Type 1 diabetes, if you're considering an insulin pump or CGM, if you have frequent hypoglycemia, if you're pregnant or planning pregnancy, or if your primary care provider recommends a specialist consultation.
Do you offer telemedicine for diabetes management?
Yes. We offer telehealth appointments across Texas, making it easier to get specialist diabetes care from the comfort of home. Many follow-up visits and CGM data reviews can be done virtually.
Will my insurance cover a CGM or insulin pump?
Coverage has expanded significantly in recent years. Most major commercial insurers and Medicare now cover CGM devices for patients on insulin. Insulin pumps are covered for most patients with Type 1 diabetes. We assist with prior authorizations and appeals when needed.
I was just diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Should I see an endocrinologist right away?
It's a great idea. A visit early in your diagnosis helps ensure you're started on the right medications, understand your condition fully, get appropriate screening for complications, and have a monitoring plan in place. Many patients benefit from at least a one-time endocrine consultation at diagnosis.
